Powder Brows

Beautifully defined, softly shaded brows designed to suit your face, colouring and natural features.

Powder brows are Olivia’s signature service and are ideal for clients who want fuller, more balanced brows with a soft, polished finish that lasts.

What Are Powder Brows?

Powder brows are a form of semi-permanent makeup created by gently implanting pigment into the skin using a specialist machine.

Rather than creating individual hair strokes, the treatment produces a soft shaded effect through the brow. The result can be kept very natural or built up for a more defined, makeup-style finish.

Powder brows are also sometimes described as ombré brows because the front of the brow can be kept lighter and softer, with gradually more definition through the arch and tail.

The final result is completely tailored to you.

Why Choose Powder Brows?

Powder brows can help to:

  • Add definition to pale or sparse brows

  • Improve uneven or asymmetrical brows

  • Create a fuller and more balanced shape

  • Replace definition lost through over-plucking

  • Reduce the need to apply brow makeup every day

  • Create a soft, natural finish or a more polished look

  • Provide longer-lasting results than tinting or brow makeup

They are particularly suitable for clients who prefer the appearance of softly filled-in brows rather than individual hair strokes.

A Bespoke Brow Design

No two sets of brows should look exactly the same.

Before treatment begins, Olivia will carefully assess your:

  • Natural brow shape

  • Facial structure

  • Skin tone

  • Hair colour

  • Existing brow hair

  • Preferred level of definition

  • Previous semi-permanent makeup, where applicable

The brows will then be measured and mapped to create a shape that complements your face.

You will have the opportunity to review and approve the proposed shape before any pigment is implanted.

Natural or More Defined

Powder brows do not have to look heavy or block-like.

The treatment can be customised to create:

  • A soft and natural powder effect

  • A light everyday makeup look

  • A more structured and defined brow

  • A soft ombré finish

  • A fuller brow with added depth through the arch and tail

The colour, shape and intensity will be discussed during your consultation.

Who Are Powder Brows Suitable For?

Powder brows may be suitable for a wide range of clients, including those with:

  • Sparse or thinning brows

  • Naturally fair brows

  • Uneven brow growth

  • Gaps or areas of hair loss

  • Oily or combination skin

  • Mature skin

  • Previous over-plucking

  • Difficulty applying brow makeup

  • Busy lifestyles

  • A preference for defined, low-maintenance brows

Powder brows can often be a better option than hair-stroke techniques for oily, mature or more porous skin because the shaded finish may heal more evenly.

Suitability will always be assessed individually.

What Happens During the Appointment?

Your appointment begins with a detailed consultation.

Olivia will discuss your desired result, assess your natural brows and create a carefully mapped shape. Pigment colours will be selected to complement your colouring and create the most flattering result.

Once you are happy with the shape and colour choice, a topical numbing product will be applied to help keep you comfortable.

The pigment is then gently implanted using a specialist machine to build a soft, even powder effect.

The appointment usually takes approximately two to three hours, although this may vary depending on the brows and the level of detail required.

Will My Brows Look Dark at First?

Yes. Immediately after treatment, the brows will usually appear darker, sharper and more intense than the final healed result.

This is completely normal.

During healing:

  • The brows may appear very dark for the first few days

  • Light flaking or dryness may occur

  • The colour may temporarily appear lighter or uneven

  • The pigment will gradually soften as the skin heals

The healed result is generally softer and more natural than the appearance immediately after treatment.

Allow approximately four to six weeks for the brows to fully settle before judging the final colour.

The Healing Process

Healing varies from person to person, but the brows will usually go through several stages.

During the first week, they may appear darker and more defined. Mild redness, tenderness, dryness or flaking can occur.

As the skin heals, the colour may appear to fade significantly before gradually becoming more visible again.

This is a normal part of the healing process.

Do not pick, scratch or remove any dry or flaky skin, as this can affect pigment retention.

Perfecting Appointment

Powder brows are normally completed over two appointments.

A perfecting appointment is usually recommended approximately six to eight weeks after the first treatment.

This appointment allows Olivia to:

  • Assess how the pigment has healed

  • Strengthen areas where pigment has faded

  • Adjust the colour if necessary

  • Refine the shape

  • Improve overall balance and coverage

The perfecting appointment is an important part of achieving the best final result.

Clients who do not attend within the recommended timeframe may be charged at the current maintenance or colour-boost price.

How Long Do Powder Brows Last?

Powder brows are semi-permanent and will gradually fade over time.

Results typically last between one and three years, depending on:

  • Skin type

  • Lifestyle

  • Sun exposure

  • Skincare products

  • Medication

  • Hormonal changes

  • Healing response

  • Aftercare

  • The chosen pigment colour

A colour boost may be recommended when the brows begin to fade or lose definition.

Clients with oily skin or those who use active skincare products may notice faster fading.

Before Your Appointment

For the best possible result, please follow all pre-treatment advice provided by Olivia.

You may be asked to avoid:

  • Alcohol for at least 24 hours before treatment

  • Excessive caffeine immediately before your appointment

  • Retinol, acids and strong exfoliating products around the brow area

  • Waxing, threading or tinting immediately before treatment

  • Sunbeds, tanning and excessive sun exposure

  • Facial treatments, chemical peels or laser treatments close to the appointment

  • Blood-thinning medication or supplements unless prescribed

Never stop taking prescribed medication without speaking to your doctor.

Please tell Olivia before treatment if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication, have a medical condition, have an active skin condition or have previous semi-permanent makeup.

Aftercare

You will receive full written and verbal aftercare instructions.

During the healing period, you will normally need to avoid:

  • Picking, rubbing or scratching the brows

  • Applying makeup directly over the treated area

  • Excessive sweating

  • Swimming

  • Saunas and steam rooms

  • Sunbeds and direct sun exposure

  • Facials, peels and active skincare around the brows

  • Applying unapproved creams or products

Following the aftercare advice carefully is essential for good healing and pigment retention.

Once fully healed, using sun protection around the brows can help slow fading.

Previous Semi-Permanent Makeup

Please tell Olivia if you have had previous microblading, powder brows, tattooing or removal treatment.

Clear photographs may be requested before an appointment is accepted.

Previous pigment cannot always be covered successfully. In some cases, removal or lightening may be recommended before new powder brows can be created.

Correction work may require additional appointments and will be assessed individually.

Are Powder Brows Painful?

Most clients find the treatment very manageable.

A topical numbing product is used to help reduce discomfort. Some clients describe the sensation as light scratching, vibration or pressure rather than pain.

Sensitivity varies from person to person.

Are Powder Brows Safe?

When performed by a trained professional using appropriate hygiene procedures, powder brows are generally considered a safe cosmetic treatment.

However, all semi-permanent makeup procedures carry some risk. Temporary redness, tenderness, swelling, bruising or minor bleeding may occur.

A full consultation and consent process will take place before treatment.

Treatment may be postponed if the brow area is irritated, sunburned, broken or affected by an active skin condition or infection.
